About this event
Neighbor Melissa Watts will be teaching up to 12 village members this historic game in three sessions March 11, 18, and 25. Registration is required and participants should plan to attend all three dates as each class builds on the last. Registrants also must provide their own set of tiles. There will be time to stay after class and practice games.
Melissa will give instruction so you can begin to play with confidence - through lecture, hands on practice, and video examples going over the tiles, cards, rules, flow of play, and strategies for a winning hand.
Melissa enjoyed a long career as an architect and city planner, designing major projects across the US and teaching aspiring architects to master the complexities of bringing order to chaos. Mah Jongg became her passion three years ago as 152 tiles form hands much as the variables of construction form a building. She has taught beginner Mah Jongg at OLLI and at the Woman's Club of Chevy Chase and was a longtime volunteer for BMAV.
