How to Manage a Serious Illness

BMAV member Jerry Hage will talk briefly about the death of his beloved wife, what he learned from it, and how he prepared for it. Most of the meeting will be reserved for questions for Jerry and discussing what he said.

Jerry will argue that any discussion of aging well must confront the problem of how to manage health care.  This is more than just filling out end-of-life documents. It requires careful thought, especially if the idea is to provide a peaceful death.

According to Jerry, the problem of managing health care starts with the first serious illness.  Jerry uses the case of stage four cancer, which his wife was first diagnosed with in the early 1990s, about 35 years before her death.  He will provide several guidelines that are useful for managing a serious illness.

All are welcome. No RSVP required.
