The two water impoundments at Hughes Hollow are usually good for waterfowl and herons, and the swamps and fields nearby should be good for migratory warblers, sparrows and vireos.

We will be walking on dirt and grassy paths after a night of rain -- good conditions for finding migrants, but wear waterprood footwear or sneakers which you don't mind getting damp. We should be done by 10:30 am.

Directions to Hughes Hollow: Take River Road toward Potomac and then follow these directions. Total driving time from Edgemoor is about 35 minutes. Make sure to stay on River Road all the way out to the intersection with Hughes Road before taking the left to the impoundments.
