What is this?
Join the BMAV Arts Group on a visit to the new photography exhibit, “My Iran: Six Women Photographers,” at the Sackler Gallery, followed by the Whistler watercolors in the adjoining Freer Gallery.
The Post's review of "My Iran" notes the exhibit "presents a more nuanced view of the country [and] challenges the stereotype of voiceless Iranian women.” The Freer has the world’s largest collection of Whistler’s watercolors, with more than fifty seascapes, nocturnes, interior views, and street scenes. The fragile watercolors have rarely been displayed, and this is their first major exhibition since the 1930’s. See more here https://www.freersackler.si.edu/exhibition/whistler-in-watercolor/.
This is the first week the Sackler and Freer Galleries will be open after major renovations. The Peacock Room will also be open for visitors this day. RSVP and meet at the top of the Bethesda metro escalators at 9:45 am.
