About this event
Join volunteer docent and BMAV member Melissa Clark on a guided tour of this exhibition highlighting SAAM’s recent acquisition of quilts from the collection of Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi and celebrates her legacy as the founder of the Women of Color Quilters Network.
The artists featured in We Gather at the Edge honor the Black story quilt tradition with work that envisions a more just and connected world. The selection of quilts acquired by the museum and featured in this exhibition is remarkable in its scope and groundbreaking in its representation of Black history and culture as told with needle and thread.
This exhibit is on view through June 21, at which point the building will close for two months as it’s readied for the next exhibit.
Entry is free. RSVP required and group limited to 15 so everyone can easily see and hear. There is a a ramp to the front door available.
There are several places for lunch in the neighborhood, including Teasim on I Street and Founding Farmers about 3 blocks away on Pennsylvania.
